Heather Bonshire

Heather brings over 20 years teaching experience to the East Coast Performing Arts family, where her love for dance, teaching, & children is infectious. She is trained in the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, and Musical Theatre.


Heather began dancing at the age of 9 at Dance Creations Inc. in Woonsocket, RI, where she was a student assistant and a member of the Dare to Dream Competition team. She earned her teaching certification from the Dance Teacher's Training Club of Boston. She went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Dance and earning membership into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honors Society from Dean College in Franklin, MA. While in college she was a member of the Dean College Dance Company, student representative for the dance department for new/prospective students, and a student choreographer for the Dean College Coffeehouse Cabaret. She was chosen by her professors to be the dance assistant at the S.M.A.R.T.S. summer arts camp where her choreography was showcased as well. Heather went on to do a 3rd year of college at Jacksonville University as a Psychology major with a dance minor. There she performed in the student choreography showcase and children's concerts, and was a member of the JU Dance Team.


After college, Heather began teaching full time at ACROS Starquest Academy of Dance in Evansville, IN (now known as Thr!ve Dance Company). There she was the recreational dance coordinator, director of the Pre-Company Competition team, and teacher/choreographer of the Competition Company.


Heather moved to Florida in 2004 where she joined Deltona Academy Of Dance under the direction of Tera Primm Perkins (later known as The Dance P.A.D), as a recreational & competitive dance instructor/choreographer. She remained a loyal staff member through the transition of hands, and is a proud member of East Coast Performing Arts under the direction of Cara Appleby-Lundquist.


Other achievements include: acceptance into the Alvin Ailey Summer & Winter intensives, performing in National Tap Dance Day, job offer from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Choreographer of Grit & Grace Community Theatre in DeFuniak Springs, FL. Guest teacher/choreographer for Studios throughout New England and the Midwest, instructor at the New England Summer Dance Camp. Heather has won numerous awards for her choreography in the areas of Tap, Lyrical, and Contemporary.
